NYS State 146 District Assemblyman Kevin Smardz

Assemblyman Kevin Smardz is the representative for the 146th Assembly District. His district consists of most of southern Erie County including Blasdell, Boston, Brant, Collins, Concord, Eden, Evans, Hamburg, Holland, Lackawanna, North Collins and Sardinia.
Kevin is a graduate of Lake Shore Central High School and Buffalo State College, where he earned a degree in Communications and Broadcasting. Upon graduating, he worked in Western New York for various television stations and video production companies. For nearly a decade, Kevin has served as the Media Director for the Southtowns Christian Center in Hamburg.
In 2007, Smardz was elected Councilman to the Hamburg Town Board where he served as Town liaison to the volunteer fire companies, the Planning and Engineering Departments and Building Inspection. Kevin also served as Hamburg’s Deputy Town Supervisor. During his term on the Town Board, Kevin has demonstrated his commitment and leadership to the taxpayers through his record of cutting taxes and providing jobs.
Kevin’s passion for lower taxes, eliminating wasteful spending, and providing a viable economy for business growth prompted him to run for the New York State Assembly.
Kevin Smardz also served as a Board member of the Hamburg Industrial Development Agency. He is a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 527 and a parishioner of the Southtowns Christian Center. Kevin and his wife, Cate, reside in the Town of Hamburg with their two sons.
Erie County 12 District Legislator Lynne Dixon
Lynne Dixon was first elected to the Erie County Legislature in November 2009 on a reform platform that included reducing the size of the Legislature, reducing legislator salaries and eliminating district offices. She continues to work toward cutting the cost of government and putting taxpayers first.
Currently Lynne serves on the Legislature's Public Safety and Energy & Environment committees.
Lynne and her three siblings were born and raised in Western New York, attending Williamsville North High School. She attended West Virginia University where she majored in English. Lynne and her husband, Tim, have lived in the Village of Hamburg for the past 12 years. Their children, Jack, Erin, Owen, and Caroline, attend school in the Hamburg District. The family has been involved in numerous activities, including hockey, soccer, lacrosse, dance, gymnastics, cheerleading and basketball.
Lynne spent 22 years as a journalist. For 12 years she was a general assignment reporter at WGRZ-TV, covering everything from breaking news, crime, and feature stories, to investigations and in-depth reports on local and state government. She was also a news and sports reporter/anchor at WGR-55 Radio in Buffalo where she performed similar duties. Lynne's broadcast career began in West Virginia where she was News Director of the student-run radio station, WWVU-FM at West Virginia University. She worked in local television and radio there before returning home to Western New York.
The District 12 Legislator has often been recognized for her work in journalism, including the inaugural Tim Russert Award for interview skills, preparedness, knowledge, credibility, teamwork and generosity of spirit at Channel 2. She was also awarded the Best of Gannett, New York State Broadcasters, Associated Press, and WVU Student Journalist awards. She has been part of various charities and fundraising events, including Kids Escaping Drugs and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. In addition, she was a founding member of the Make-A-Wish local chapter. Lynne is a member of the Chambers of Commerce in Boston, Eden, Evans-Brant and Hamburg.
Throughout her travels and work as a journalist, Lynne has been an outspoken advocate and cheerleader for our region. She is eager to be part of a joint effort to advance this area, and help create an environment and opportunity where not only her children, but many generations of families can stay and prosper.
